Diesel is holding a design contest open to everyone to design blank walls in cities across the world. The above wall is in New York City. To get the specs for the walls and deadlines (it’s different in every city), check out Diesel Wall 2008.

Blek le Rat – Stencil Pioneer

Blek le Rat is a pioneer in stencil-style graffiti, he was here before Banksy and Shepherd Fairy. Starting his signature stencil art in Paris in the early 80s, he’s inspired many street artists around the world. Subliminal Projects in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles is currently holding an exhibit of le Rat’s work, and though it’s only been going on since April 5th, le Rat’s prints are already completely sold out. Birth of Cool

Opening May 17th at the Oakland Museum of California will be a look at arts (including graphic design, music, architecture, furniture design) that launched mid-century modernism in California. The exhibit was organized by the chief curator of the Orange County Museum of Art, Elizabeth Armstrong. The exhibit will be showing until August 17th.
